Summer Reading Challenge
If the summer readers can reach 1,300 hrs by August 9th Jenn will get a pie in the face at our summer reading finale!

Remember ALL your reading counts; audiobooks, books, and magazines. Did you read as a family? Everyone gets to count those hours!

June 2017

Wednesday June 21st 4pm Dash and Dot
This month we will be borrowing Dash and Dot from the state library.  This is a rare opportunity to test out how Dash and Dot work together as a team. Come play and have some fun with robots!

Monday June 26th 3:30 – 4:30pm Paws to Read with Coffee
Come by the library and practice your reading with Coffee the Chihuahua! Coffee, a registered reading therapy dog, loves when kids practice their reading with him or tell him stories.  Also, if you bring 3 non-perishable items for the Food Pantry, you get to choose a free stuffed animal graciously donated by Douglas Cuddle Toys!

Tuesday June 27th at 2pm Movie
We will be showing a different film each Tuesday. Take a break from the weather and relax while watching a fun family movie. Popcorn!

Wednesday June 28th 4pm Decorate Flower Pots
We will be decorating flower pots. Each person will get their own pot and may plant a few flowers in it. Supplies are limited, sign up is recommended.

Thursday June 29th 7pm Summer Reading Kick-Off Pied Piper Puppet Show
The town of Hammelin has a rat problem, and there’s only one person who can help! CactusHead Puppets brings the story of The Pied Piper to life in this comedic, updated adaptation of the traditional folktale.remote control rat

We will be holding a raffle for all those who have signed up for the Summer Reading Program, must be present at the show to win. Free and open to all!

July 2017

Wednesday July 5th @ 4pm Decorate T-Shirts (Bring your own white)
You must bring your own white item! We will be providing the fabric crayons, iron on transfers, and an iron. All younger participants must be accompanied by an adult. Free and open to all! Sign up required.

Wednesday July 12th @ 4pm Sculpting w/ Melody
Melody Russel will be teaching a beginners sculpting class. This is recommended for ages 8 and up. Sign up required.

Wednesday July 19th @ 4pm Wildlife Encounters LIVE animal show
Wildlife Encounters will be bringing a LIVE animal show! This is an educational animal program that will allow us to learn about these different animals and what we can do to help protect them.

Wednesday July 26th @ 4pm Stop Motion Movies
During this program we will be learning how to create short movies by taking photographs of figurines.

Wednesday August 2nd @ 4pm Teen Chef
Our annual Teen Chef competition has returned!
This is for ages 10 and up, registration required.

Wednesday August 9th @ 6:30pm Summer Reading Finale & Magic Show
This is our big finale event of the summer! We will be announcing the winners of the raffle, enjoying a fantastic magic show, and finding out if the Hancock Readers have reached their goals and earned the right to throw pies in their librarians faces! It is sure to be a fun evening so please come out and enjoy it with us.

AcroYoga Workshop Thursdays in July at 2pm
We will be sponsoring a 4 week AcroYoga class. This class requires advanced sign up and a signed permission slip. We recommend this program for ages 8 and up. Permission slip must be turned in by June 29th.
